ProGet 5.3 Is Almost Here!

Posted on .

The next big release of ProGet is almost here! ProGet 5.3now out in beta, is a transformative release focusing on containers, because why shouldn’t containers get the same first-class treatment packages already enjoy in ProGet?

The 5.3 release brings our container features on par with features already available for packages, like semantic versioning. Replacing human-unreadable (“0e5574283393”) or meaningless tags (latest-latest 4) with semantically versioned tags not only simplifies compliance and auditing but also eliminates time wasted hunting for what you need or accidentally using the wrong image.

And there’s even more to be excited about: ProGet 5.3 will let you see not just which containers are running but also where. This makes maintaining compliance and security (for things like layer inspections) more effective in less time. But don’t think we’re leaving packages behind—this great feature is available for them too! Rather than just a historical record, you can see a real-time list of what containers and packages are running where.

ProGet 5.3 is now available in beta, with a full release targeted for Q2 2020. You can see the ProGet 5.3 upgrade notes here. Stay tuned to our newsletter and to inedo.com for more ProGet 5.3 news.
