Inedo 2024 – A Year in Review
2024 has been a year of growth and innovation for Inedo. From launching new tools and updated versions of all three Inedo products to publishing guides and hosting webinars, we’ve focused on providing solutions and resources to support our users.
ProGet had the most changes by far, including policy and compliance features along with five new feed types. We didn’t make a lot of Otter changes, but BuildMaster had some big improvements to release pipelines, including allowing for parallel grouping for stage targets.
Here’s a look at the key highlights that defined this year.
ProGet Gets a Boost with New Feeds and Tools
This year saw ProGet 2024 updated with even more feed types, namely Dart/Flutter. We also just added Terraform feeds at the end of the year, which we gave you some behind the scenes insight on, as well as Rust Cargo, PHP Composer/Packagist, and Conan!

In addition to ProGet itself we also launched tools such as pgutil 1.0 and 2.0, making it even easier to run simple commands to control and manage your ProGet instance from the CLI.

Sharing Knowledge Through Guides, Webinars and Docs
It wasn’t just our products that saw improvements and additions throughout 2024. Our documentation site saw a major overhaul as we relaunched our Inedo Docs platform. This not only involved changes under the hood, but also some huge revisions of the documentation itself, such as our feeds docs.

In addition to this we released two new whitepapers. The first, Chocolately in the Enterprise, breaks down how to simplify and automate software deployment across Windows machines in your organization. Then, we have Migrating from Artifactory to ProGet, providing step-by-step guidance on setup, user management, and repository migration. We also updated our .NET Migration Guide to coincide with the release of .NET 9.
These releases also allowed us to get back into holding webinars such as our “Chocolatey in the Enterprise” and OSS Vulnerability Mitigation talks, giving you even more insight into improving your development at an enterprise level.

Finally, with Software Supply Chain Security always in our sights, we published our first ever annual “State of Software Supply Chain Security” report.
What to Look Forward to in 2025
We’ve already talked a little about our roadmap for 2025, but as a quick recap, here are some of the things we have in store for ProGet, BuildMaster and Otter:
⭐New Feed Types Coming: We plan to continue adding more feed types in line with feedback from users. If there’s a package type you’d like to see added to ProGet, please let us know!
⭐ Improved SCA Features: We’re working on making Software Composition Analysis (SCA) even better, with some updates arriving in 2024 and bigger improvements planned for 2025.
⭐ Switching to PostgreSQL: We’re moving ProGet to PostgreSQL to make it more scalable and flexible. Preview features will drop early next year, and while both SQL Server and PostgreSQL will be supported until 2026, PostgreSQL will eventually take the lead.
Here’s to carrying the momentum of this year into 2025, with fresh ideas and the same drive to keep improving.
